Translog’s transshipment station in Schweinfurt was equipped with two new full gantry cranes. The crane systems are used for handling freight wagons as well as for loading and unloading trucks.

Both gantry cranes have a lifting capacity of 16 tonnes each and a span of 30 m. The overall height is 10.4 m. The cranes were equipped with cable-tensioned double hoists in reeving 6×1/1 with a stepless hoisting speed of up to 15 m/min and permanently attached, rotatable magnetic crossbeams for handling bar material.

The cable tensioning prevents the load from swinging, which leads to considerable time savings both when picking up the load and when setting it down in the registers, in conjunction with the very high lifting speed.

Furthermore, the pendulum-free nature of the load virtually eliminates damage to the transport vehicle. The safe transport of the load is made much easier by means of synchronised control of the two hoists. In order to ensure operational safety even in winter, all drives were equipped with space heaters. Furthermore, the crane systems have lighting on the hoists for optimal illumination of the crane operator’s workspace.
